Senior Citizen Health Care Reform - Why You Should Fear It
I believe in celebrating the elderly. Cherishing our elders, respecting and caring for them in every way should be a right and a privlege. The senior citizen Health Care Reform should not only be feared by all senior citizens but all people who will age eventually. Cutting $500 million from Medicare and Obama's "Complete Lives System" would refuse to allocate medical resources to the elderly in their time of need. It should be criminal to even consider refusing any sort of medical help to our elderly and it is impossible for many of us to think of happening. The financial burden of the Health Care Reform bill should not fall upon our most treasured citizens or anyone else for that matter. This is why this system should never pass in the Senate. I urge everyone to speak up loudly on this mat...

Go To Sleep & Wake Up a Better Senior Caregiver
Most people don't get enough sleep. But, family caregivers aren't most people, right?   Our schedules make one-armed paper hangers look lazy.  We work.  We take care of our kids and our parents.  We even make time for volunteering and PTA meetings.  And, between midnight and 6:00 AM, we organize the hall closet, plan a vacation, write to relatives, save for kids' college, wash the dog, pick up dry cleaning and finish that master's degree.  When there's too much to do, we just do it.  We just don't sleep.   A lot of the time I should be sleeping, I'm reading instead.  Since I run a business and take care of seniors, I love when I find a book that overlaps the two.   In their book Rework, Jason Fried and David Heinemeier Hansson describe how...

I am on Disability and have Medicare and Medicade. I have...
I am on Disability and have Medicare and Medicade. I have recently been told that Medicare can take my home to pay back what I used and even more. The home is only in my name not my husbands. I am only 41 The best thing I ever did was to buy a house to leave to my children. Can I pay back what I used so far and just not have healthcare? Do I have to also pay back Disability and SSI? If that is even an option? I can't go back in time to do things differantly but I don't want my children to lose their childhood home. My attorney didn't advise me that this could happen. Part of my disability is that processing written information is difficult yet I wasn't given a case worker or anyone to help me make good choices. I am very sad to hear that our home will be taken. Please advise me on how I ca...

Sucks..........
Why is :) still here? It's bad blood that needs to go. It's horrible, outdated, primitive and not up with the times. It is used so much on here with a different meaning that it looks like 9/10 times it's not for being a happy face but for smirking at someone else or implying jest. Also, :) looks horrible due to the bad pixelation method rasterized on it. See related illustrations for yourself: Image: http://i37.tinypic.com/2n6xgmw.jpg Figure 302A: Protrusions along edges of graphic while overlaid in other RGB variations. Image: http://i35.tinypic.com/710nbd.jpg Figure 302B: Image depiction of default smiley emoticon, rasterized, 500x500 enhanced So, with it we should get rid of it and replace it with something more hipster and more recent. How's that for a change? Oh and.. :)

Seniors Contemplate the Future
In 20 years I will have reached the threshold of the 90's, assuming I survive the time between now and then. I will be in the category where my mother and father in law now reside. They are both in their 90's and dealing with all the progressive satisfactions which have kept them going and quite adequately at their advanced ages. What will the world be like for me/us then? How will the dynamics of health issues affect those of us presumbably fortunate enough to be around? What will be required of us to keep our own health habits working in our behalf? How will the medical field have advanced? What will be the take on cancer, heart problems, and other of the more serious maladies that strike us as we age? Beyond that what will the social and cultural fabric of the times be like? W...

The need for grief counseling
Many people think they do not need counseling when they lose a spouse or child by death. Counseling can be just talking with family and friends, asking their advice. Yet, when grieving begins to consume our lives, it is time to seek professional counseling; do not put it off. There certainly is no ’shame’ to ask for help from those who are trained for this. Grief has a way of developing into depression and major health problems; this can be avoided. Seek help! For more Senior tips, visit http://Senior.lifetips.com

Drawing Up a Last Will Yourself? (forum)
As you start to think about drawing up your Will, you may have heard that drawing one up yourself from a template in Microsoft Word is a safe way to do it. While for many this might be true, its important to keep in mind that if your Will gets contested, it will have to stand up to legal challenges. If you're concerned, you may want to use a real lawyer, or at least have your Will reviewed by an attorney to make sure you're not forgetting anything that could cause it to fail in a court challenge. However, it is perfectly possible to do your own Will so long as you take the right steps. First, the basics. You'll want your Will to include the basic elements: identify yourself and your estate, you'll need legal verification that it was you who wrote the will (legal validation), you should ha...
